Martin Daley was born in Carlisle in 1964. He writes fiction and non-fiction and his home city always features heavily in his books. He first introduced Inspector Cornelius Armstrong in Sherlock Holmes’s Adventure of the Spanish Drums. Since then Inspector Armstrong has had his own cases to solve in Edwardian Carlisle.
